Cookie Policy
This policy lists every cookie and item of local storage used by curviocheerdck.com, its purpose and duration, and the means of refusing it.
Scope
This policy applies to curviocheerdck.com, operated by Curvio Cheerdck Publications Ltd, company number 13847221, 14 Ashworth Lane, Cambridge CB2 1TN, United Kingdom. It supplements the Privacy Policy and is issued in accordance with the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003 and the UK GDPR. Non-essential cookies are set only after the visitor has given consent through the banner displayed on first visit.
Cookies and local storage defined
A cookie is a small text file placed on a device by a website and returned to that site on subsequent requests. Local storage is a related browser mechanism that holds data on the device without transmitting it on each request. Both are referred to as "cookies" in this policy. Cookies are classified as essential when the site cannot operate without them, as analytics when they measure how the site is used, and as functional when they remember choices that improve the visit but are not strictly required.
Register of cookies used
| Name | Category | Purpose | Duration | Set by |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| ccd_cookie_consent | Essential | Records the visitor's consent choice so that the banner is not shown again | 12 months (local storage) | curviocheerdck.com |
| __cf_bm | Essential | Distinguishes human visitors from automated traffic as part of denial-of-service protection | 30 minutes | Cloudflare, Inc. |
| _ccd_a | Analytics | Anonymised page-view counting; contains a random identifier and no personal data | 13 months | curviocheerdck.com (Plausible) |
| ccd_toc_state | Functional | Remembers whether the table of contents was expanded or collapsed on narrow screens | 30 days | curviocheerdck.com |
The site sets no advertising, social-media or cross-site tracking cookies. Images served from third-party image services are requested without cookies.
Managing consent on this site
On first visit a banner offers three controls. "Accept All" enables analytics and functional cookies. "Reject Non-Essential" records a refusal and sets essential storage only. "Preferences" opens a panel in which each non-essential category may be enabled individually. The choice is stored in the essential item ccd_cookie_consent and honoured on every page. It may be reviewed or changed at any time by selecting "Cookie preferences" in the footer of any page. Withdrawing consent stops the setting of new non-essential cookies; cookies already set may be removed using the browser instructions below.
Browser opt-out instructions
All current browsers allow cookies to be viewed, deleted and blocked. Blocking essential cookies may prevent the consent banner from remembering a choice.
- Google Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Third-party cookies and Site data. Instructions: support.google.com/chrome/answer/95647.
- Mozilla Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data. Instructions: support.mozilla.org.
- Apple Safari (macOS): Safari → Settings → Privacy → Manage Website Data. Instructions: support.apple.com.
- Microsoft Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions → Manage and delete cookies and site data. Instructions: support.microsoft.com.
Local storage is cleared through the same "site data" controls as cookies in each browser listed above.
Third-party cookies
Cloudflare, Inc. sets the __cf_bm cookie as the site's content delivery and security provider; its privacy notice is at cloudflare.com/privacypolicy. Plausible Insights OÜ processes analytics on the Company's behalf without transmitting personal data; its data policy is at plausible.io/data-policy.
